Malappuram workshop that was held on 16 June 2010 was inaugurated by Sri. Arimbra Mohammed, president, District Panchayat. Sri. Salim Kuruvambalam, District Panchayat health and education standing committee chairman, and Akshaya assistant district coordinator Sri. Unni Madhavan were also present. Visually challenged teachers, special school teachers, Akshaya entrepreneurs and representatives of SHESHI, an NGO, participated in the workshop. Malappuram District Panchayat has been actively working towards educating the differently abled. Braille Saaksharatha is their pilot project for the visually challenged. They have put forward a proposal for association with Insight for expanding their activities in the subject area.
