An Information and Communication Technology (ICT) workshop will be organised for autistic children and their parents by Insight, a joint initiative of Kerala State IT Mission and SPACE for the benefit of the Differently Abled. It will be held at Red Shield hall, Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram from May 27-29, 2009.

The workshop seeks to explore the use of various digital technologies to enhance learning and communication of children with disabilities. Educational software such as GCompris and programming interfaces like Scratch have been found to be very useful in building the learning and communication skills of autistic children.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad [IIIT-A] and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology Amethi [RGIIT] organized an International Seminar on ‘Empowering Visually Impaired through ICT‘ from April 15 to April 16 2009 at RGIIT Amethi. This was the follow up of the National Seminar on Empowering Differently Abled through ICT that the Institute organized in New Delhi in February 2008. The focus of this seminar will be on how emerging technologies can be employed to empower visually impaired through ICT and improve the quality of their lives.
