A one day training on Introduction to Ubuntu GNU/Linux Operating System and Orca for the students of Blind School, Vazhuthacaud was conducted at the Insight centre on 15th November 2008. 24 visually impaired children, accompanied by a teacher were given hands-on training on using a computer with the help of Orca screen reader software.
Various innovative technologies have been developed for the differently abled to use a computer efficiciently inspite of their disabilities. These technologies called as accessible technologies are available in the market - some affordable and others costly. Insight presents a brief report on these accessible technologies. A job fair for the differenty abled is being organised in Chennai on January 10th and 11th, 2009. The job fair named EmployABILITY2009 is presented by Ability Foundation along with the Lions Club of Padi Shenoynagar, in association with Naukri.Com and the National HRD Network Chennai Chapter.
